Veteran Education Benefits

A variety of benefits, programs, and services exist to help you transition from military to civilian life, including benefits designed to facilitate your educational and vocational goals.

We're ready to help you understand your benefits, maximize the ones that you receive, and determine supplements to help you finance living, learning, and working as a veteran.

The GI Bill

"The" GI Bill can be misleading - your benefits will depend on what type of GI Bill you qualify for, and at what percent of full benefits. We can help you understand the difference between the Montgomery GI Bill, Post-9/11 GI Bill, and Forever GI Bill (Colmery Act). Depending on your time of service, we can also determine if you're eligible for full benefits or a pro-rate.

Already attempted school? We can help you find supplements for any portions of your GI Bill already used to finance education.

Did you know?

The GI Bill doesn't just apply to two-year and four-year degree programs. If you're interested in a trade, apprenticeship, or civil service, you may be able to apply your GI Bill toward that program and receive an educational stipend and housing allowance.

Veterans Readiness & Employment (VR&E)

Previously known as "Vocational Rehabilitation," VR&E prepares veterans with a service-connected disability for entry into the civilian workforce through five employment-specific tracks based on your interests and previous experience. While we are not VR&E counselors ourselves, we work closely with local VR&E programs and can help you prepare for application to them.

If you're looking to enter the workforce with guidance, benefits, and professional advice, ask us how we can help you prepare for a VR&E program!

VR&E helps veterans find meaningful, long-term employment that aligns with their strengths, interests, and conditions resulting from their military service.

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to determine eligibility for federal and state financial aid, including Pell Grants, federal loans, and work-study. Many vets assume they don’t need to apply because they’re using VA education benefits—but you may still qualify for additional aid that can cover expenses your VA benefits don’t, such as housing, supplies, or family needs.
Recent legal changes mean vets no longer need to report untaxed income like VA disability compensation, which can make a significant difference in eligibility. Filing is free, and we’re here to help you complete and understand your FAFSA results—especially if it’s your first time.

Filing the FAFSA may make you eligible for Pell Grants - aid that doesn't need to be repaid - which can help cover living expenses, supplies, or reduce the need for student loans.

Financial & Economic Literacy Training

All good things come with budgets. If you're interested in learning more about how you can plan, prepare, and position yourself for financial success, we can help! We routinely hold workshops dedicated to financial literacy and can help you figure out a balance between spending, saving, and splurging.
